Fall is an exciting time to start planning your wardrobe and styling new pieces for the season. This is when you can test out the latest fall trends currently, as well as getting into the spirit of the leaves changing, the temps chilling off, and the essential layers coming out to play. That said, the autumn season seems to reveal a select few items that quickly become the staples in my closet – the classic staples. You know, those mainstays that essentially withstand the test of time and act as the foundation to your wardrobe. These are the pieces that you can easily style with several different outfit combinations and continuously reach for no matter the time, place, or occasion. Although we are well into the fall season, New York has just received the fall memo as we had some of our more “chillier” days only a few days ago! Even so, I can already identify the five fall wardrobe staples that I know I’ll be incorporating into my everyday wear.
As much as I love the deep hues of fall, I like to keep the reds, oranges, and yellow tones on the trees. It’s all about creamy neutrals and shades of blue, as these tones seem to be my recent go-to’s. My preferred color palette naturally evolves from season to season, and right now, creams, grey, white, blue, and black are inspiring me the most. I’ve conveniently combined all of those shades in this outfit, starting with a staple for any fall closet: a crewneck cashmere sweater in white. This one from Club Monaco has quickly become a favorite of mine, and pairs beautifully with anything from denim to wide-leg pants, but here, I’m wearing it with a navy blue corduroy skirt. This sweater comes in a gorgeous dark grey that I also have my eye on. It truly feels like you’ve slipped on a cloud, and provides an airy warmth to your fall look. The sleeves are slightly puffed, but in all the right places, giving it just a little extra detail to make it stand out from the rest.
I’ve realized that I can’t resist a blazer, especially when it can double as a “coat” if layered with a cozy sweater. The double-breasted and boxy shape of this tuxedo-style blazer is what I will typically gravitate towards. It makes the perfect layering option, and the silhouette feels very modern. The menswear-inspired tuxedo jacket, in this luxurious color and shape, helps to add a feminine spin on a menswear classic. I purchased this from Ralph Lauren because I was so in love with the black tuxedo jacket that I wore all last season. I will most likely alternate between those two pieces, as well as a few other plaid and grey styles that I like to throw in the mix now and then. I know the white was a bold purchase, but I know it will be a piece that I wear throughout the season, even as the weather cools down. Did somebody say winter whites?
One of my favorite things about fall fashion is all of the different fabrics and textures. While I was in Club Monaco falling deeply in love with this cashmere sweater, I came across this adorable navy corduroy mini skirt. Something about a corduroy skirt feels like fall – you know what I mean? I love wide wale corduroy and the A-line silhouette, which gives a bit of added structure. I plan on wearing this skirt with a cozy sweater and boots all season long.
As I mentioned, the chillier days have begun, and once we get into November and December, I often wear a mini skirt with my favorite pair of tights for layering and warmth. If you’re a frequent reader on the blog, you’ll know that Tabio has quickly become a favorite brand of mine. Not only are their assortment of socks luxurious, but I’m excited to share that their tight line is equally as flawless. Functional yet luxurious, Tabios tights have an advanced fit and give you that flawless, smooth texture. If you feel and try on a pair of these tights, you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about! The tights have this unique and signature texture, which the brand explained to me as a process of a special double-knitting technique, called platting knitting. This process makes the advanced comfort and

I prefer a sheer tight when styling with a skirt, because I enjoy the illusion and how you can still see a bit of leg. My preferred style from Tabio is the Sheer Tights 30-denier in black, which is one of their best sellers. The brand also offers several other tight styles, like the 60-denier Premium Semi-Sheer Tights and the 80-denier Premium Tights, which provide options in terms of opaqueness. As the number increases in the style name, the opacity of the tights decreases, making the 30-denier the most opaque and the 80-denier the least. It all depends on the look and feel that you would like to achieve when styling your look with a pair of tights. I definitely recommend stocking up on a few of these premium Tabio tight styles, as they are a wardrobe necessity this time of year.
Thank you, Tabio, for sponsoring this post. All thoughts and opinions remain my own.
