A little over three years ago, my love affair with Charlotte Tilbury and her makeup brand began. If you are unfamiliar with her work, understand that makeup artists don’t come much more legendary than Charlotte Tilbury. With over 25 years of experience in the fashion and beauty industry under her makeup belt, she is the worlds number one makeup artist and a true beauty industry trailblazer. Charlottes beauty range is brilliant and unlike any other beauty brand on the market. Her ranges’ rapid growth and success are attributed to her revolutionary, luxury, and transformative products that have been developed with one thing in mind – wanting to make every woman look and feel like the best versions of themselves. Her products are inspired by the celebrity clients that she has been so fortunate to work with, her time as an artist, where she would constantly be mixing mediums to create products that had not quite existed and her experience working in the digital age. Charlotte Tilbury’s products have single-handedly changed my life and the way I feel about makeup.
My strong brand loyalty stems from Charlotte’s mesmeric personality and how relatable she is. After watching her YouTube videos for years and getting an opportunity to meet and speak with her last year, I know that Charlotte is a genuinely lovely person, who cares greatly about her brand and customers. When people watch her videos or meet her in person that can feel that warmth from her, which is why she has built such a cult following.
Three years later and I can hardly contain myself when there is chatter over new product releases. I can feel the excitement bubbling up inside my brain like a champagne cork about to pop. Something comes over me, where I feel like if I don’t get my hands on her new releases, I just can’t bear to go on! My Charlotte addiction knows no bounds. It must be that gorgeous rose gold packaging that just gets me every time. So, I’m sure you can imagine my sheer, unadulterated joy when Charlotte Tilbury launched the Hollywood Flawless Filter, and it’s a revolutionary new category in makeup. The Hollywood Flawless Filter blurs the lines between foundation, highlighter, and primer. “Completely customizable, it has the versatility of a primer, the mega-watt glow of a highlighter, and the perfecting properties of your favorite digital filter,” Tilbury says of the innovative formula she calls a “complexion booster.”
I was beyond fortunate to use this product leading up to its release date, so I can confidently confirm that it makes your skin look like you’re walking around with a flawless Instagram filter and a beauty spotlight on your face. The Hollywood Flawless Filter is the ultimate high gloss, high glow celebrity-skin-filter-in-a-bottle. This product was born on the red carpet makeup, inspired by technology, for real life, in real time that looks amazing on and off the screen. The product is made up of magical ingredients, like smoothing airbrush polymers which helps this creamy product roll over your complexion for a poreless-looking finish. The glossy oil is a lightweight moisturizing oil that reflects and adds light to your face in the desired areas. Don’t get worried by the sight of the word oil and think ‘greasy.’ Charlotte has combined the oils with finely milled powders and polymers for that soft focus glow, and to make lines and pores appear smoother, which accounts for its nongreasy finish. My favorite ingredient is the porcelain Flower Extract because it has natural antioxidants and anti-inflammatories to help brighten the skin. After applying this product, I can visibly notice my skin tone becoming more even, brighter, smoother and lite from within. I don’t even understand how she’s done it, but she has!
Now, for the fun part! How do I use this product? Charlotte coined the lovely plosive ‘beneath it, blend it, boost it, bling it,” slogan to describe the myriad ways in which you can use the Flawless Filter. You can use this product as an all over primer, beneath your foundation for a subtle glow. Blend it with your foundation on the back of your hand to amplify your glow. Apply it on top of your foundation along the tops of your cheekbones, down the nose, above the cupids bow or anywhere you want a little extra glow! And for that extra mega-watt glow, wear it on its own at full volume, erasing any imperfections for a fresh, glossy, all over glow. It doesn’t look shimmery or glittery, rather glowing and dewy finish. That is the only way to describe how this product looks on the skin. It is a similar color to a foundation, but blends into the skin with a pearlescent finish. It is simply stunning!

The Flawless Filter comes in 7 shades, ranging from fair to dark. If you use any of Charlotte’s foundations, there is a corresponding Flawless Filter shade to her Magic Foundation and Light Wonder Foundation, which you can find on her website. But if you’re trying to figure out what shade is best for you, listen up! Fair 1 is a neutral beige for very fair skin and Light 2 definitely has a more neutral peachy beige tone for fair skin. I have been using shades 1 and 2, as one gives me a more amped up glow, while 2 blends a bit more naturally into my skin tone. Light/Medium 3 is a neutral peachy tone for light and medium skin tones. Medium 4 is a neutral golden/yellow tone for medium skin tones, and Tan 5 is a neutral caramel color for tan skin tones. Tan/Dark 6 is a warm amber for deep skin tones, while Dark 7 is a deep bronze shade for darker skin tones. It is all about finding the right shade for you, and learning how it works on your skin to achieve the finish you want.
The product comes in a glass jar, with a doe-foot applicator, so you can control the amount of product you want to apply. I suspect that getting every last drop of this product out of the jar will be a pretty tricky task! My favorite way to use this product is either underneath my foundation, on the high points of my face, avoiding the areas where I tend to get a little extra oily and then applying my foundation. I also love using it on top of my foundation and dotting the product on the top of my cheekbones, cupids bow and down the nose. It doesn’t leave any visible lines like a powder highlight would. Instead, it melts into the skin and gives you that real life, super starlit, J. Lo skin! The Hollywood Flawless Filter is absolutely worth the hype, but I recommend making sure you learn how it works on your skin to achieve the finish you want.
