It is less than a month away from it officially becoming spring, which means the temperatures are rising, my favorite flowers are getting ready to bloom, and most importantly, your wardrobe starts getting lighter, brighter and a lot more playful. After getting a taste of what life will be like once we finally get there, with NYC hitting an all-time record high of 74° yesterday, it was time to start thinking about transitional coats for Spring. It is time to hang up that puffer coat, ladies, and invest in some light-weight outerwear to help you transition into those confusing mild climates. But, this transitional weather can also prove to be tricky, as today could be 60° and tomorrow could be 30°.
I recommend looking for lightweight outwear, like a trench coat, with room for layering pieces underneath. Layering will be your best friend and the power of any transitional coat during these in-between days. I decided to layer my light trench overtop a knit turtleneck, for some added warmth. Carrying on the neutral motif, I wore this coat with brown checked trousers and accessorized with a Chanel chain belt and my trusty white boots. This isn’t the first time I’ve showcased my penchant for outerwear this year! A coat is one of my favorite ways to take a simple look and transform it into a stand-out look. When I think of Spring outerwear, I see more flowing and elegant silhouettes, with less of an emphasis on staying warm, and more of a focus on style.
