For me, there’s nothing more elegant than a wide leg pant, and when you combine that silhouette with the tailoring of a classic black jumpsuit – there’s simply nothing better. A wide leg pant and a jumpsuit are two of my absolute favorites, and they’re always my go-to styles when I want a more elevated or dressier look. When I saw these styles at the S/S 2017 NYFW shows, you could imagine I was thrilled! Jumpsuits were seen on the catwalks of Rachel Comey, and Ventements, while the wide leg pant was the star of the show at Red Valentino and Ulla Johnson. Some of the reoccurring styles throughout the season definitely feel 80s-inspired, and what’s so great about these styles is that many of you already have wide leg pants, a jumpsuit, or even a wide-leg jumpsuit in your closet already!
What I love so much about this Alexis jumpsuit is not only the exaggerated wide-leg silhouette but the long side slits on either side of the pant legs. It gives the jumpsuit movement, adds a subtly sexy detail, and allows you to show off a strappy or statement heel. I decided to layer the jumpsuit with this Club Monaco bell sleeve to give an extra element of femininity and contrast. The combination of black and white is something I’ve been seeing a lot recently, and I like how the white textured silk and black ribbon contrast with the black jumpsuit. The black ribbon on the blouse tied the two pieces together seamlessly. These refined details—a black ribbon, striking buttons at the back of the jumpsuit, and the wide leg slits—make these look uniquely beautiful.
