You’re probably thinking, florals? For spring? Groundbreaking…right. I never get tired of The Devil Wears Prada, and the same goes for floral prints. When you live in NY, 365 days of the year, there aren’t the prettiest blooms all year round. So when I start to see flowers budding and blooming, it means that spring is here and the cheery summer weather is approaching! If you’ve been visiting my site since last summer, you’ll know that I have a serious obsession with off the shoulder tops. I love the way they accentuate the décolletage, while still being flirty. This off the shoulder top is the perfect summertime staple, whether you’re headed to a music festival or off to brunch over the weekend. You can easily dress them down with denim for a more casual look. Or, you can dress them up, like me, and add a pair of flowing trousers for a more sophisticated look.
This Rebecca Taylor off the shoulder top is a little more tailored, so I wanted to add a contrasting piece, like this pair of Alice + Olivia trousers, to balance out the outfit. The top is shown with a similar floral patterned pair of cropped culottes or a pencil skirt, but when I really loved the way these wide-legged trousers complimented the top, making it the focal point of the look. I wanted a simple heel to wear with the look, and this block heel from Nasty Gal was perfect. I’m always on the hunt for minimalistic, easy and affordable summer sandals, and Nasty Gal has an awesome selection!
These pieces worked together so well, but I can’t wait to style them separately. This off the shoulder top with a pair of denim shorts and white sneakers, and the wide leg pants with a white cami! Both so perfect for summer!
