Have you ever borrowed from the boys before? Guilty as charged. When you think “hoodie” words like “gym class,” “athleisure” or “sweat” (duh, it’s a sweatshirt) might come to mind. But, hold your connotations, because in the blink of an eye the oversized hooded sweatshirt transitioned from a pilates class topper to a viable fashion staple. So now, when I’m at a loss of what to wear, my answer: go shopping for hoodies in my brother’s closets. They have an endless selection of oversized sweatshirts, in every color imaginable, so swapping out a top for a cozy hoodie, all while adding that effortless cool-girl factor to your look sounds like a win-win – sign. me. up. Okay, okay, so now that the hoodie is back and better than ever doesn’t mean you know quite how to work it into your repertoire. But, don’t worry because I’m sharing how to style the oversized hoodie, and a foolproof look to embrace the cozier lifestyle and looking good while doing it.
Outfit Details: Pixie Market Coat | Carhartt Mens Hoodie | Vintage Levis (similar here, here, and here)
My goal when getting dressed in the morning is always to look polished, regardless of if what I am wearing has a cozier connotation. It’s just something that was embedded in me at a very young age because when you leave the house, you want to put out the best version of yourself. So when putting together this look, I wanted to incorporate the oversized hoodie, but keep the color scheme light and feminine in a way. I used the hoodie as a layering piece, rather than the main focal point of my look. This light grey Carhartt hoodie added a bright contrast against the soft tan plaid, and also picked up on the light hues used throughout the plaid design. This layered look called for light denim, which is always a good idea in my book, and these vintage Levis have been my go-to pair recently. This look is a new way to break up your typical winter style and try to embrace lighter layers for spring. Shop my favorite hoodies below:
