RUFFLE RIOT

Wearing: Eight Sixty Ruffle Top | Sandro Denim | Marc Fisher LTD Mules

There are ruffles here, there, and everywhere this season. Rufflemania began on the catwalks of NYFW during the S/S17 shows, and designers showcased classic pieces that were cut, reworked, and tweaked ever so artfully to introduce this classic and girly trend. Sometimes I’m not always one for following the trends, but when and if one really speaks to you and fits with your aesthetic and style, I say go for it. That was me with this ruffled trend, as I’ve always been drawn to the whimsy, flowiness, and nostalgia of a ruffle.

Fluttery shirts, skirts, dresses, and even shoes are big, both in terms of the proportions of the ruffles and in terms of the hype of this trend (I dare you to find a runway show that didn’t have a ruffle and flounce). This is why everybody in fashion is eager to get their hands on this romantic style. Tops with ruffled detailing are the perfect way to incorporate this trend into your spring wardrobe because it has that flawless balance between femininity with a touch of effortless sleekness. One-shoulder layered ruffled tops, skirts with cascading ruffles, or pants with spiraling ruffled details down the leg can add an unspoken drama to any outfit.

With a fun print, like this polka dot Eight Sixty ruffled top, you can add a flirty and fun to your overall look. I recommend paring this voluminous top style with a slim pair of denim or a skirt with a straight silhouette and a subtle shoe. I decided to style this ruffled top with a suede pair of Marc Fisher LTD Mules.

If you’re looking to update your shoe collection this spring with the season’s most sought after style, there are only two words you need to worry about – The Mule. They’re an ideal shoe for everyday because they combine comfort with elegance, and who doesn’t want that in a shoe? I love how the mule and the ruffled top look, as the two paired together offer a balanced contrast of light femininity with a chunkier, more structured shoe. I plan to style these shoes a bunch of different ways this spring!

Love,
Liv
